Prohibition of going home, passengers can get 100 percent refund if they cancel their travel ticket

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Ministry of Communications (Kemenhub) regulates the provisions for the cancellation of travel tickets that coincide with the implementation of the Eid homecoming ban on May 6-17, 2021.

This is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation (Permenhub) Number 13 of 2021 concerning Transportation Control during the Eid 1442 H / Year 2021 in the Context of Preventing the Spread of Covid-19.

In the regulation, it is stipulated that the operators of land transportation facilities, including buses, passenger cars, as well as river, lake and ferry vessels, must return the full cost of the ticket 100 percent.

Refunds are given in cash to prospective passengers who have purchased tickets for travel on the date of the enactment of the homecoming prohibition.

“Refunds of ticket fees are made within 7 days from the time the prospective passenger submits a request for return,” the Minister of Transportation Ministerial Decree 13/2021 wrote in a statement quoted by Kompas.com, Friday (23/4/2021)

Meanwhile, for the provisions on air, sea and rail transportation, each operator or transportation mode business entity is required to return the ticket cancellation fee to prospective passengers who have purchased tickets for travel on May 6-17, 2021.

Ticket refunds can be made in 3 ways. First, the ticket fee refund is 100 percent in cash and must be made within 30 days of the prospective passenger submitting a refund request.

Second, by rescheduling for the same class for prospective passengers who already have tickets. This time change is not subject to additional fees.

Third, by changing flight routes for prospective passengers who already have tickets. Route changes are made by considering adjustments to fare differences on the selected route.

The ticket refund period with the system of rescheduling or changing flight routes is only valid for 1 year for 1 rebooking.
