The corona vaccine is still a scarce commodity, as the state government and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Saxony-Anhalt (KVSA) emphasize. Not everyone who wants this can currently be vaccinated. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 17,000 vaccinations per day are currently possible in the vaccination centers in Saxony-Anhalt. But the vaccine is not yet sufficient to use the full capacity. Therefore, prioritization is also necessary at the moment.
–
Because of the lack of vaccines, “only a few initial vaccinations can be carried out this week and next,” reports the KVSA. The doctors would have to give priority to the second vaccinations. Despite the high bureaucratic effort involved in the Covid 19 vaccination, most practices would like to offer more vaccinations. But according to the current status, this will only be possible in June.

Fact 2: This is how the vaccine is distributed in Germany
The federal and state governments have joined forces in the March 2021 agreed onto continuously deliver 2.25 million vaccination doses per week to the vaccination centers “in order to maintain a predictable operation”. Saxony-Anhalt, as a relatively poorly populated federal state, receives around 60,000 vaccine doses. The federal government states that it wants to increase the number over time, but nothing has changed so far.
–
Any additional vaccine that goes to Saxony-Anhalt will go to the doctor’s offices. The state and the KVSA told MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT that they did not know how many vaccine doses that were exactly. However, information from the Federal Ministry of Health shows that in the past few weeks a similar amount of vaccine was sent to doctors’ practices as to vaccination centers.
