While the company carrying out the work begins to assemble the front part of the structure – which according to the plans should be made entirely of glass – the first job interviews also begin for those interested in working in what will be the new Rieti retail park – Cittaducale. They should have been flash works with the conclusion of the construction sites which at first had been set for December 2022, then the first postponement (April 2023) and now a new deadline, this time the one that should be definitive: the center will be open within the first weeks of October.
But let’s go step by step: anyone who has passed the former Mercatone at least once in recent days will have noticed that the works are proceeding quickly and in the meantime one wonders which shops will make up the retail park in addition to Conforama which will fully return with 57 workers , 7 of which could however be “passed” on to other points of sale within the same centre. “The redundancy fund for the 57 workers of Conforama expires on 18 October but we aim to have already returned to work by that date, at least for about ten days” explains to RietiLife the trade unionist of CGIL, Antonio Pilati, who is dealing in the first line of question. In the meantime, the next steps are at the end of the month with the delivery of the keys to the warehouses to Conforama, which will thus be able to start bringing the furniture back to Rieti as well – only to then stop from the middle to the end of August for the holidays – to then rearrange the entire center by September. Other shops, various certainties and some maybes: among the certain there are Cisalfa, MediaWorld and ScarpaMondo who have already started the talks, just as they are certain Terranova e Conad (the latter should move from its current headquarters in via Emilio Greco to open a larger store; a new Todis should open in its place, which is part of the same group) and a pastry shop from Rieti. Among the maybe the decathlon which could arrive, but late, setting up a separate structure close to the center, while everything is still in doubt about the restaurants. Except for Eurofocacciawhich should reopen unless last minute reversals, the doubt is between Burger King which had been talked about in recent months and Road House. While the latest works are being finalized, we can only imagine how beautiful it will be to see that parking lot on the border between Rieti and Cittaducale full of cars, even from Terni. Just like going back to the roaring nineties.
