Mayor Eric Adams announces an expansion of an initiative that seeks to relocate homeless New Yorkers who use the subway system for shelter.
The program aims to improve safety for the homeless themselves, as well as MTA riders and employees.
The initiative, called Partnership Support for Homeless Transit (PATH), brings together members of the NYPD Transit Bureau, the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS), and NYC Health + Hospitals to help New Yorkers lives without protection in the underground system to connect. with shelter and care.

PATH teams, which launched in August, are made up of DHS nurses and outreach workers who work with NYPD transit police and conduct overnight outreach at subway stations on throughout Manhattan, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.
While in the field, interagency PATH teams reach out to anyone they see who appears to be vulnerable and offer individualized support based on the individual’s challenges. expressed or what they saw.
