The multiple Olympic champion returns to the ice Arianna Fontana. The record-breaking woman is ready for another season on skates, to speed along the slopes of short track of the whole planet.
The most medal-winning Italian athlete ever at the Winter Olympic Games – 11 medals, including 2 golds in the 500 meters at Pyeonchang 2018 and Beijing 2022, 4 silvers and 5 bronzes – does not want to stop here: her goal is Milan Cortina 2026.
Winner of two 500m World Cups, 7 times European Champion and 4 world championship podiums, Fontana is preparing for a year of competitions full of innovations.
The first is that the Short Track World Cup is now replaced by the World Tour: six stages between North America, Europe and Asia to be able to win the much desired one Crystal globe.
However, the 2024/2025 season will begin on long runway for Fontana. The blue girl writes on her personal Instagram profile:
“I can’t wait to compete again in Inzell (25/26/27 October) to qualify for the Italian long track team. This is where the mission of the dual discipline (Short Track & Long Track) becomes reality or not. .. the performances must speak first, but I’m really happy to finally find myself on the ice with the other Italian skaters. There’s still a lot of work to do… Stay tuned.”
The first appointment therefore for Fontana in the short track will be in Salt Lake City, USA, on November 1st. Continue reading to discover all the races of the 2024/2025 season.
