Jakarta

Total lunar eclipse the second and last in 2022 will happen soon. Indonesia can see the phenomenon of the total lunar eclipse on November 8, 2022. Check the program and the list of regions.

Quoted from the National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN) Aeronautical and Space Research Organization (ORPA) website, a total lunar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon when the entire surface of the Moon enters the Earth’s central shadow (shadow). This is due to the configuration between the Moon, the Earth and the Sun which form a straight line.

“A total lunar eclipse occurs during the full moon phase, however, not all phases of the full moon can experience a lunar eclipse,” said Andi Pangerang, researcher with ORPA BRIN.

“This is because the Moon’s orbit is tilted 5.1 ° with respect to the ecliptic and the time it takes for the Moon to return to the same node is 2.2 days shorter than the time it takes for the Moon to configure the Earth and the Sun in rectilinear way So, the moon is not always in the ecliptic plane when it is full, “he explained.

He added, the width of the total lunar eclipse this time was 1.3589 with a distance of 0.2570 from the center of the shadow to the center of the Moon. This eclipse is the twentieth of the 72 eclipses in the Saros 136 series (1680-2960).
