Profiteering with corona masks? | Switzerland

They made big money thanks to the pandemic: Luca Steffen and Jascha Rudolphi, two young entrepreneurs from the Zug-based trading company Emix and former board members of the Young SVP Zurich. They sold corona masks for just under ten francs each and always claimed that they were not looking for a quick profit.

But now other facts are coming to light. According to a report in the “Tages Anzeiger”, new evidence has emerged in the court files of the criminal proceedings against the Zug-based trading company Emix on suspicion of profiteering with Corona protective masks.

Distressing WhatsApp messages

According to the report, these are WhatsApp messages from the young entrepreneurs. The Tages Anzeiger quotes one message: “We currently have open orders for 15 million masks. The smartest thing to do, however, is to keep them in stock for one to two weeks and sell them in Europe with a larger profit. In Italy, Germany and Switzerland, everything is sold out, and they are no longer getting any goods because they normally buy them in China. And they (the Chinese) have an export ban on masks because they need them themselves.”

Hope for the pandemic

And added as a PS: “Hope that a pandemic is declared, then the state will buy everything at an overpriced price.” Overpriced shopping: That is exactly the accusation regarding the Emix deals, the newspaper reports. The Zurich public prosecutor’s office is currently conducting criminal proceedings on suspicion of usury.
