Samator Group founder Arief Harsono died on July 2, 2021 due to exposure to COVID-19. Prior to his departure, Arief coordinated with many hospitals in West Java, Central Java and East Java.

One businessman from Surabaya, Hermanto Tanoko, said that he had time to communicate with Arief regarding his oxygen needs.
