Professional Trap Builder-Walkie Talkie Blast

Lebanese authorities are investigating large explosions targeting pager and walkie talkie communication devices in several areas Lebanon. The initial investigation said that the explosion was a professional trap.

“Preliminary investigations by the Lebanese authorities found that the handheld device that exploded this week was booby-trapped before entering the country, the Lebanese mission to the UN said. AFPFriday (20/9/2024).

The Lebanese side said that the pager and walkie talkie devices were deliberately planted with explosive devices before they arrived in Lebanon. An email is sent to the device to trigger a blast.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the targeted device was professionally intercepted … before it arrived in Lebanon, and it was detonated by sending an email to the device,” said the letter seen by AFP. Lebanon blames Israel for the attack.

Lebanon’s UN mission said the attack was “unprecedented in its brutality” and threatened diplomatic efforts to end fighting in Gaza and southern Lebanon. They asked the UN Security Council to condemn the attack ahead of an emergency session planned TODAY to discuss the blast.

Explosions of pager communication devices occurred in several areas of Lebanon on Tuesday (17/9). A day later, it was the turn of several pedestrians to explode in Lebanon. As a result of the massive explosion, 37 people died and thousands more were injured.

Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallahalso spoke out after a massive explosion that targeted pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon. Nasrallah admitted that the attack was a blow to Hezbollah.

Reported AFPOn Thursday (19/9), Nasrallah delivered an open speech after the explosion occurred in Lebanon. In a defiant tone, Nasrallah said that Israel will bear the appropriate punishment for the explosion in Lebanon.

Nasrallah considered the attack on communication equipment in the Lebanese region as a declaration of war. He said his party will demand revenge on Israel.

“This could be a war crime or a declaration of war,” Nasrallah said.
