Professional League of Ecuador disclaims responsibility in ‘disastrous performance of the VAR system’ | National Championship | sports

The VAR presented failures and the images could not be observed since the added time was announced until minute 70 in the second part.

Due to the “disastrous performance” of the teams that supply video referee technology (VAR), the Professional Football League of Ecuador, through the National Refereeing Commission (CNA) of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF), will ask the Hawkeye company a detailed report of what happened during the Clásico del Astillero that Barcelona SC and CS Emelec played on Saturday at the Monumental stadium.

Both the president of the Professional League, Miguel Ángel Loor, and the same entity, in social networks, demarcated responsibility regarding the malfunction of the system that was hired to give technological support to the arbitration team that the referee Luis Quiroz commanded within the field of play .

The completion of the first half of 2 minutes of addition decreed was extended to 10, this due to the fact that the judge of the duel had a delay in reviewing a play between Alexis Zapata, from Emelec, and Mario Pineida, from Barcelona SC. The VAR was faulty and the images could not be seen. That problem, which remained unsolved in the first half, was solved in the second, at minute 70.

‘No signal’ was the message that was read on the monitor located at the edge of the court, while the referee Quiroz waited for the sequence of images of the action that Pineida and Zapata carried out at the end of the first half and that showed on television GolTV.

“The Professional Soccer League of Ecuador, through the CNA, will ask the Hawkeye company for a detailed report of what happened in the Barcelona SC vs. CS Emelec, corresponding to date 11 of the LigaPro Serie A, regarding the malfunctioning of the VAR teams, ”reads a statement from the body that runs the clubs in series A and B of national football.

Minutes later, also through social networks, the head of that organization, Miguel Ángel Loor, clarified: “Although I understand the multiple insults and threats, I remind you again: LigaPro did not contract the VAR, LigaPro does not operate the VAR, LigaPro is not who has interference in the VAR. It is a shame what happened today (Saturday), this company will have to give explanations for the disastrous performance of its system ”.

Even without the award of a contract from the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) for the video refereeing service (VAR) during the entire competition of the tournament run by the Professional League, for this specific case, the dispute of the Shipyard Classic, was Barcelona SC which assumed the costs of hiring the service, as the Canarian club board requested the use of this technology on the occasion of that match.
