High-class professional football will be making three stops in the region in the next few weeks. This is where preparatory games take place: Who meets whom? What do tickets cost? An overview.

Bad Friedrichshall: SV Elversberg against FC Ingolstadt

The game announcement is not quite correct. Bundesliga live at FSV can be read there. Correctly, it is professional footballers in preparation who come to the sports park of Friedrichshaller SV. Second division promoted SV Elversberg has not yet played a first or second division game in its club history, with third division club FC Ingolstadt the first division times are several years ago. On Friday, July 7th (6.30 p.m.), the Saarlanders meet Bayern halfway through the summer preparations. Curiously, the most recent duel between the two teams was not that long ago. On the 38th and final day of the third division at the end of May, Elversberg won 2-1 in Ingolstadt.

Actually, the game should take place in Heilbronn, where the lawn in the Frankenstadion will be renewed. The Friedrichshallers are now stepping in with their sports park. Schoolchildren pay ten euros for standing room (reduced rate), full-paying guests pay twelve (plus advance booking fee via diginights.com). “Of course we know that it will be difficult to attract 1,000 spectators,” says FSV department head Sinan Külüslü.

Schwäbisch Hall: VfB Stuttgart against Hohenlohe selection

Things are different in Schwäbisch Hall. No wonder VfB Stuttgart moves to the region. The Bundesliga side will take on a Hohenlohe selection on Sunday, July 9 at 3 p.m. Around 2000 tickets have already been sold, says Sportfreunde department head Eberhard Döring and hopes that the number will double. That would be a viewer record that those responsible would like to break. Since the conversion of the Auwiese to the Optima-Sportpark, this has been 3284. Set up at the home game of the American football first division team Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns Unicorns against Frankfurt Universe in the 2019 GFL season.

The Hohenlohe selection consists primarily of players from the Oberliga club FSV Hollenbach, the Verbandsliga club Spfr Schwäbisch Hall and the Landesliga club TSV Crailsheim. The team is coached by Sportfreunde trainer Thorsten Schift. FSV Hollenbach’s Matthias Hahn, Marius Uhl, Hannes Scherer, Lorenz Minder, Arne Schülke, Jonas Limbach and Christoph Rohmer have now been invited. From Crailsheim comes Tim Meßner, from TSV Ilshofen Lukas Lienert and Marc Göldenboth. A large number of sports fans will join them. “But it’s still unclear who,” says Döring. Coach Thorsten Schift was still on vacation. In 2019, VfB Stuttgart played against a Hohenlohe selection for the last time – at TSV Ilshofen. In 2021, VfB played against FSV Hollenbach in the Jako Arena. Tickets are available from Reservix.de.

Heilbronn: TSG Hoffenheim gegen SV Elversberg

TSG Hoffenheim and SV Elversberg meet for a good cause on Wednesday, July 12 (6 p.m.) in the Heilbronner Erbe Arena. Incidentally, the abbreviation SV does not stand for sports club, but sports association. Neither the first division team nor the second division team receive an entry fee, which is why the income goes to charitable purposes, for example the Illingen hostel. “Pre-sales are going well so far,” says co-organizer Franz Abfalder. There are still almost 100 seat tickets for 20 euros, standing room costs 15 euros. Tickets are available online at diginights.com.

Abfalder is hoping for 2,500 to 3,000 spectators. Elversberg has been in training since last Monday, TSG Hoffenheim will start their pre-season preparations on Sunday (3 p.m.) in Zuzenhausen. FC Union Heilbronn’s stadium is not new territory for TSG. In July 2016, on the 29th birthday of their then coach Julian Nagelsmann, the Kraichgauers lost 2-1 to the Belgian first division club KV Oostende. At the time, Nagelsmann complained about the condition of the lawn. The surface has recently been intensively maintained for several weeks and also inspected by the TSG greenkeepers.
