A barbaric crime scared the city of Jandira, in the interior of São Paulo. A professional football player, who is currently signed to Esporte Clube Taubaté, is the main suspect of raping an ex-wife and killing her current boyfriend with a knife and a sledgehammer.
According to the São Paulo Civil Police, Carlos Guilherme Santos de Oliveira, Carlinhos, aged 27, who has already played for several Brazilian teams, such as Boa Esporte (MG), São Bernardo (SP), Atibaia (SP) and Floresta (CE), and who has been wearing the Taubaté shirt since November to compete in the Paulistão Series A2, would have entered the property where the couple was staying, at 6am on Sunday, and then committed the crimes.

The accused allegedly struck a man named Deivid, who currently lived with the young woman, with the objects, and then spent hours raping his former partner. When Carlinhos asked his wife to leave with him, on a motorcycle, she took advantage of the killer’s carelessness to run to the house of a relative who lives nearby. The suspect then fled on a motorcycle at high speed.
Carlinhos and the raped young woman had a relationship that lasted eight years, from which they had two children. She told the police that she was attacked several times and that her marriage with the player was very troubled. The separation was recent, having occurred just two weeks ago, and the relationship with the new boy would have left Carlinhos upset.
In a statement, Esporte Clube Taubaté, the accused’s current club, said that the contract with the athlete had been temporarily suspended, until Carlinhos’ participation in the crime was clarified. The board of directors of the São Paulo team said that it “is monitoring the case, which is being investigated by the competent authorities, and preventively suspends the athlete’s activities at the club”.
Several Civil Police teams carry out investigations in numerous cities in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, as well as at other addresses in Jandira and Itapevi, to try to locate the accused, who remains at large.
