By a press release made public this evening of March 14, 2024, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) postpones the start of the play-offs for the 2024 professional championships until March 22. Time to resolve outstanding issues. A decision that was expected as the signals were clear in this direction.
In fact, the day before, the Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration (CCA) of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon (Conscience) rendered a decision of non-conciliation in the procedure initiated by Azure Fawn of Yaoundé against Fecafoot. Regarding the decisions of the Board of Appeal of the instance which called into question the ranking of the MTN elite One championship and therefore the non-qualification of the club Norbert Word for this phase; also, Fauve Azur requested the cancellation of the effects of the play-off scheduling acts, until the arbitration procedure was resolved. The CCA therefore ruled in favor of the plaintiff.
At the time when Fecafoot itself had just failed no less than 62 MTN elite One players for these same play-offs, for reasons of dual identity. And victims had until March 13 at 3:30 p.m. to make any claims. It is obvious that the deadlines were very short for action to be taken on these appeals, while several procedures were still pending before the CCA, concerning the decisions of the Fecafoot appeals chamber. Procedures which should be emptied this March 15, the date initially planned for the start of the play-off UP et downhaving to designate the clubs which must go down to lower divisions and those qualified for international competitions.
The postponement therefore remained the only way out for Fecafoot. But in view of the protests recorded, it is very likely that even the date of March 22 will not be respected.
