Dresden. SG Dynamo Dresden has given young player Jakob Zickler a professional contract. The 18-year-old has recently been part of the third division team’s training and playing squad and has already celebrated his debut in the third division this season.
“Jakob is a very willing and talented player who has made a very good impression in the last few weeks. Thanks to his commitment and good technical requirements, he developed into a good option for our games with training performances. His development is on a very good path, which we would like to continue to support and promote,” says Thomas Stamm, head coach SGD.
Jakob Zickler is the stepson of Alexander Zickler, who first played for the juniors and later for the men’s team of the sports community from 1980 to 1993. Alexander Zickler later played over 200 Bundesliga games and 51 games in the UEFA Champions League for FC Bayern Munich, among others. In the summer of 2023, Jakob Zickler followed in his father’s footsteps and moved from Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy to the SGD’s U19 juniors.
Jakob Zickler was already part of the sports community’s squad at the third division team’s summer training camp. On matchday 4, the 18-year-old was called up to head coach Thomas Stamm’s squad for the first time in the 3rd league and celebrated his professional debut against VfB Stuttgart II when he came on as a substitute in the 90th minute.
So far this season, Jakob Zickler has played nine times for the sports community in the DFB U19 youth league. The offensive player has scored six goals so far.
