Every day without a lockdown is golden for the whole country, so get vaccinated and follow the measures, the professor urged
The mathematician Prof. Nikolay Vitanov published his daily forecast for the development of the fifth wave of the pandemic in our country and in particular the new version of the coronavirus – Omicron.
Vitanov is adamant: “Omicron is breaking new records (this was expected) and other expectations are that there will be no monstrous numbers such as 60,000, 70,000 or 100,000 cases a day. Probably no one doubts my prognosis anymore:
– we will exceed 1 million registered cases
“We will exceed 33,500 dead.”
Vitanov also commented on the data on mortality. “Omicron is expected to be around 1%. That is why we have many cases, and the mortality rate is not the same as in the Delta variant – over 300 per day. But what we have is not small. Therefore – beware. 1% may not be much as a percentage, but remember – this 1% is from many more cases.
The mathematician also published forecast maps of the spread of the virus: “You can see the areas where the Omicron is already swirling. Other areas are expected to enter this darkest zone. The heroic resistance of Plovdiv is coming to an end. He has held the front for a long time, for which we should be grateful.
The virus is spreading diffusely in all areas, Vitanov said, predicting that this will continue until the end of the month. “The fire is burning with different intensity in different places. In this situation, the likelihood of a superfire decreases with each passing day in which things remain so.
Regarding the anti-epidemic measures, Vitanov said: “Again, how do I assess the situation. I judge her that way. You know that there is at least 25% of the population that is absolutely firm against any measures, vaccines, etc. The highly contagious Omicron feathers some of them and they will spread it, which they do. We can’t stop them. In other words, the cases are expected to be many. Most drive it lightly. The main criterion in this wave should be the condition of hospitals.
The professor appealed: “Think about it – are you interested in a total lockdown? Every 3 days the country produces GDP of about a billion levs (or more). Every day without a lockdown is golden for the whole country. Take care, be healthy, don’t get infected, don’t go to the hospital. You will be healthy and there will be no lockdown.
