/ world today news/ Less than two months remain until the early parliamentary elections. Despite the hopeful sociological predictions, a full mobilization of all of us, of the entire party, is needed for a good performance. Several facts are reason to look with hope for success.
First of all, the victory of General Radev in the presidential elections showed that there is a deep ebb from GERB and personally from its leader Boyko Borisov, that the Bulgarian people say “no” to a policy that cements Bulgaria’s position as the poorest and most hopeless country in European Union.
Secondly, for the session of the Congress, we managed to prepare an Election Platform, which has real qualities of a governing document.
Thirdly, we adopted a new Statute.
Fourthly, God willing, with the formation of the official cabinet, the chances of holding fair elections have increased.
At the same time, we hardly need to convince ourselves that we should be realistic and self-critical.
A few things that I think need to be fixed or reworked.
About the relations between Bulgaria and Russia. And I think that we correctly stated in the documents that we are against sanctions against Russia. However, there is one more step to take. Our leadership should state that if we enter the government of the country, Bulgaria will impose a veto in the EU bodies if a decision is made to continue the sanctions. It is time for the leadership of the BSP to comply with the will of the majority of Bulgarian citizens and through its administration to assist in overcoming the differences between the EU and Russia in relation to Crimea, which ethnically, territorially, culturally and historically has always been Russian.
The other question concerns the proposal that the president of the BSP be elected by the votes of the entire party. And now I believe that such an act violates the democratic image of the BSP and infringes the rights of the National Council, which by statute is the leading party body between two congresses.
Further on. The policy of the management to renew the BSP is correct. In this regard, I welcome the involvement of experts and specialists from outside the party. Especially when they have significant public authority. I hope that the fears that in this way inconvenient, independent-thinking, critical people are removed from the party do not come true. The rumors that there are not enough authoritative people in the BSP, that there are no prepared, modern-thinking experts are another slander that aims to divide us, and that right before the elections. During the past 28 years, under the slogan of “renewal”, “purges” have been carried out in stages in the BSP, removing inconvenient personnel from leadership positions. Such acts change the party! And people are yet to find out.
I was embarrassed by the presentation in the National Council of the leaders of our parliamentary lists. It is a manifestation of subjectivism that perhaps our most erudite MP, Prof. Rumen Gechev, a brilliant financier and economist at the national and world level, is not the leader of the list. What is the reason that one of the proven and most respected leaders in the BSP, such as Kostadin Paskalov, was dropped as the leader of the list and he has no place among the elected? Although it is known that with him we won elections in Blagoevgrad and Haskovo. There is not a single doctor listed as a driver. It did not become clear to me what was the transgression of Dr. Emil Raynov, who in the 42nd and 43rd National Assembly really competently defended the positions of the BSP in the health sector. The proposal of the chairman, expressed to the National Assembly, that it is good for Sofia to choose them, is, to put it mildly, a washing of hands. How is it that Prof. Gechev, Kostadin Pascalev, Dr. Rainov could be leaders of lists, and now they fall into the paragraph…and others.
So much for internal party matters. On our upcoming tasks. It is necessary to continue our work on the Pre-Election Program. I think we need to specify the changes we will make in the Law on School and Preschool Education. It is necessary, already in the first days of the new parliament, that these changes be submitted and adopted. In the field of higher education and science, we will still have to develop our views much more deeply about the stabilization of the system of state higher education institutions and public scientific organizations – BAS and SSA.
The negative attitude of the most watched televisions towards the BSP continues, even increases. They actively work in favor of GERB and the right; it is suggested to millions of viewers that the BSP is to blame for the failures during the transition. I hope that the Executive Bureau will find a solution to this matter.
A problem that hardly has a solution is the funds, foundations, bloggers, journalists and politicians who are supported by foundations such as Soros’ “Open Society” and “America for Bulgaria”. They have a potential of several thousand people who are capable of overthrowing any legitimately elected government. The question is whether our leadership has drawn conclusions on how to respond to their provocations.
For the new office.
Of course, it is the president’s responsibility, and I am aware that we need to wait for his actions and management decisions before we pass judgment. But I will admit: I was disturbed by the way it was formed, the excessive playing with cadres of the NDSV, of Kostov’s party. I wonder how the unreserved support we give to the cabinet will affect our election results?
We will have to discuss with experts and party officials as soon as possible what changes we need to make when conducting the election campaign in Sofia. Apparently, the approach “from door to door”, from home to home”, from “kindergarten to kindergarten”, the construction of tents and our presence in them, does not give the previous results. One fifth of Bulgaria’s population currently lives in Sofia. This population, at the time of voting in parliamentary elections, is more influenced by the general politics of the BSP than by how the City Council, a particular district committee or primary organization works. Here in Sofia, mass media and television also have a huge influence. The impact of the places where Sofians work, especially those in the private sector, is strong.
So we have work to do. In the name of electoral success! In the name of Bulgaria!
