The low level of vaccination against COVID-19 in our country is the reason for the fourth wave of the spread of the infection. So far, 778,000 doses of vaccines have been given in Sofia, which means that 30% of the capital’s residents have been vaccinated. This was said on the air of Radio Sofia by Prof. Penka Petrova – Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
“If we make a statistical calculation that 125,000 cases have been proven so far with Covid-19 in the capital – it means that about 10% have fallen ill. This should not reassure us at all, because we have 60% of the unprotected population in Sofia, hence this wave, “said Prof. Penka Petrova.
She added that if the country enters the so-called plateau, but the newly infected continue to be 2,000 people a day, which is very disturbing.
