Prof. Mitev: Tsvetanov’s “machine” overcame Borisov’s “charisma”. –

/ world today news/ The local elections led to a “renaissance” of Tsvetan Tsvetanov as a strong figure in power. This is stated in an analysis of the “Ivan Hadjiyski” Institute, prepared under the leadership of Prof. Petar-Emil Mitev.

“It is due, above all, to the victory in the local vote, won much more by the “machine” of Tsvetanov than by the “charisma” of Borisov,” the authors quoted by bTV point out.

The text states that the two final acquittals and the third at first instance gave the former power minister self-confidence in front of the public.

“The new situation, half a year after the election of Rumiana Bachvarova to head the Ministry of Internal Affairs, put an end to the public lull in the relations between the former and the current interior minister. Within the month, Tsvetanov three times spoke out against the actions of his successor”, notes the “Ivan Hadjiyski” Institute.

Regarding Bachvarova, it is commented that both she and Rosen Plevneliev have very limited presidential candidate potential. “Attention is once again directed to Borisov himself – as a possible candidate or as a “kingmaker” (that is, he should personally nominate a presidential candidate – b.r.). Another option would increasingly require coordination with one of GERB’s partners”, the authors point out.

We remind you that before GERB nominated Rosen Plevneliev as a presidential candidate in 2011, analysts thought for a long time that Boyko Borisov would bet on Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who has been in his closest circle since the beginning of his political career.

However, the then interior minister got involved in a real estate scandal, and so the rulers turned to another candidacy.

In the analysis, the Reform Bloc and DPS are described as “jumped antipodes” who declare trust “personally in Prime Minister Boyko Borisov” and use the “Yanevagate” scandal for their own purposes.

The situation with BSP and ABV is more complicated. The traditional left is threatened by the risk of closing itself in its internal problems, while “Parvanov’s party unquestionably holds the initiative for dialogue in the left space”, the institute writes.

According to them, ABV has the political chance to put the BSP in its orbit, as this is evident from “Parvanov’s increasingly active intervention in the affairs of the BSP, as well as his ostentatious distancing from government policies.”
