You return to the metropolitan psychiatric clinic, and stupidity descends with terrible force on your poor head. You understand that the new role of Boyko Metodiev Borisov is to experience himself as the “Lord of the Balkans”, even though the expected treaty with Macedonia is a clear example of national betrayal. You hear that all of Bulgaria’s problems are related to the National Palace of Culture – both with the building itself and with the monument around it. On top of all that, you are slapped with the insight of that nondescript woman Liliana Pavlova, who became the boss of a pastry shop at most, that the motto of the Bulgarian European presidency should have been: “Consensus, Competitiveness, Cohesion”?! And very quickly you feel how the nostalgia for those real people from the mountains grabs you by the throat almost to the point of crying!…
Dear ladies and gentlemen, my dear comrades and comrades, at the risk of boring you, because I have been repeating it for years, I will say again that until the Bulgarian community and country realize itself as the Historical Subject of the Cyrillic and Orthodoxy Civilization and fill it with practical content this realized fact, until then the tribe and its chiefs will wallow in spiritual destitution and material misery! Because the roots of our Civilizational Subjectivity quite logically make possible the formulation not only of a Bulgarian national doctrine, of a Bulgarian vision and filling with concrete content the idea of the Bulgarian dream, but are also able to make sense of the place of modern and future Bulgaria not only in Europe, but also in the world. From such a point of view, it is more than obvious that as a conscious Historical Civilization Subject, Bulgaria must be not only the Center of Orthodox Civilization, but also take care of its Orthodox children, to whom it also gave the reading and writing – Russia, Serbia, Macedonia, etc. All this means that Bulgaria’s membership in the European Union and especially the upcoming presidency should be subordinated precisely to a similar and strategic Bulgarian vision for the future, precisely as a Historical Civilization Subject. And this means that it is more than natural that the motto of the upcoming presidency should be: “EUROPE – FROM THE MANCHE TO VLADIVOSTOK”!!! Such should be the great present and future political game of Bulgaria, dear ladies and gentlemen, my dear comrades, if the Bulgarian community and its political and intellectual elites wish to restore the dignity of both the people and the state!
I understand, I perfectly understand, that neither the people nor their “elite” can realize such prospects in the current historical situation. I understand very well that both of them prefer to be quiet, survive individually and pronounce dithyrambs about Vasil Levski, without even trying to understand his messages from today’s and future’s point of view. And just the fact that I understand our Bulgarian helplessness makes me even sadder and the nostalgia for the freedom of the mountains overwhelms me more and more!
This is the situation, ladies and gentlemen, my dear comrades!
