“I did not take money from the operational headquarters and from media interviews, we, as doctors, did not start to get rich from the pandemic and the suffering of the people,” said in “NOVA Week” Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev, director of the National Center for Infectious Diseases. and parasitic diseases (NCIPD).
For those who would be interested in his income, the professor suggested looking at his tax return, which is public (as acting director of NCIPD).
Recently, the trade union expert, now a politician, Mika Zaykova, was quoted as saying during the broadcast that they (at the National Operational Headquarters) received BGN 30-35,000 in salaries, unthinkable even for the elite IT specialists in Bulgaria.
I did not take 35,000 from the headquarters, if I did – I have to have about 450,000 BGN in accounts, which can be easily checked, said Prof. Kantardzhiev in response.
I am surprised that such an intelligent woman as Mika Zaykova can say such things. During the coronavirus, I received a salary from the director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, the doctor added, noting that he had not heard or read the statement.
The truth is that my salary is 3700 leva. There is nothing shameful about my responsibilities. It is not like the IT specialists, as they obviously compared us, said Prof. Kantardzhiev.
You can’t compare doctors to IT professionals. Should we take less? “He asked, adding:” Nowhere in the world is that the case. “
“As part of the joke, my son calls and asks me, ‘We’re supposed to be very close, why are you hiding that we’re rich’ and we have money for a mansion,” the professor said.
When asked where such attacks come from, Prof. Kantardzhiev answered that if you behave in a way that everyone likes, 30% do not like you. If you say what you think and think is true, 40% will not like you. For some 10% you should not compromise with your conscience, so you should say what you think, but also think what you say, commented Prof. Kantardzhiev (without specifying in which column the other 20% fall).
Prof. Kantardzhiev reminded again that the most important thing is to continue to vaccinate people, for him it will be most unpleasant if they remain very unvaccinated, as this will hinder security in society as a whole.
He was adamant that in Bulgaria there will be no unnecessary vaccines, but it is quite possible to help other countries, as a similar action is planned by the European Commission.
The specialist informed that if the virus does not change, a third immunization is not necessary, and according to him, vaccines have tolerable side effects.
