“Prof. Gechev from BSP Talks National Priorities and Opposition to GERB-SDS and PP”

“We forget to talk about GERB-SDS and PP. We can only talk about national priorities that BSP would support. I don’t know what the other parties will do, but we as a party will not support another one, no matter what it’s called.”

This was said by Prof. Rumen Gechev, MP from “BSP for Bulgaria”, reports Euronews Bulgaria.

Here’s what else he shared:

“The first GERB-SDS coalition did not do their job, and at the moment we do not have clarity about their priorities. We, a coalition with GERB, have long stated that we will not do it. But they can propose national priorities, and then our party and its members will say, whether they support the inclusion of the BSP in these national priorities without forming a coalition.

There is no other way to support a GERB-SDS government. In this particular situation in Bulgaria, a minority government is impossible.

Where governments are elected by experts? An MP and minister must be an expert in a given field. There are understandings here that contradict common sense. Let’s say a professional expert and a professional politician. Or a political surgeon and an expert surgeon. This division of experts and non-experts is absurd.

From where to where will Ukraine be a priority? The budget for the year must be adopted. What the official office says is good for them to say and to read. But a future government should not fulfill the office’s predictions. What they propose in the budget is a political order. They say that it is in bad shape and that the deficit will be 6.4%. But they say that the capital costs will be BGN 10 billion, and so far Bulgaria has not spent more than BGN 2 billion. Bulgaria’s public debt is currently smaller than most EU countries and the Maastricht criteria.

Bulgaria and Estonia are the leaders of the European Union in terms of debt. And the deficit of most countries of the Eurozone reached 8-9% in recent years. Eurozone countries have worse indicators than Bulgaria.

Will there be a government, that is a question for Mr. Boyko Borisov. If it is BSP – we will answer you. Now the first two parties are checking their ministerial lists and writing pairs in their notebooks. What is the responsibility of a party that has 23 deputies in the parliament.

We are always ready to discuss things that are useful for Bulgaria. If we unite around national priorities, only then can we achieve something.”
