Preparations for the iPhone 12 family are in full swing. It is not yet publicly known how COVID-19 affects the product launch of the devices. In recent years, Apple announced the new iPhone flagships in September and launched them promptly. What about the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro?

6.1 inch iPhone 12: Production starts in July

Digitimes Apple reports that it will start mass-producing the 6.1-inch iPhone models in July. This is intended to produce these devices before the other rumored models.

In total, Apple is said to have four new iPhone 12 (Pro) models for fall 2020. As already mentioned, the new models usually come on the market in September or October. Production starts in advance and at intervals. This year, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 (Pro) should make the start.

The four new models are said to include a 5.4-inch iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The reason for the earlier production schedule for the two 6.1-inch models is said to be that they use touch modules provided by other supply chain partners, while the 5.4-inch and 6, 7-inch OLED panels use Y-OCTA touch technology. With the flexible Y-OCTA display technology from Samsung, the touch sensor is placed directly on the OLED panel without the need for a separate touch layer. Apparently Samsung can’t deliver early enough.
