Lucid Motors has finally unveiled its Air electric sedan, which promises impressive performance and range on a single charge.

The premium electric sedan Lucid Air was first introduced to the world four years ago, but then it was only a prototype, which still required a lot of work. But now the California company is introducing a production model that combines stylish design with modern technology and impressive parameters.
The electric sedan will be available in several configurations, with the top one combining a 113 kWh battery and a pair of electric motors with a combined output of up to 1080 hp. With the highest equipment with the Dream Edition designation, the Air can accelerate from 0 to 96 km / h in less than 2.5 seconds and its maximum speed is limited to 270 km / h. The range of the top version should range from 748 kilometers on 21 “alloy wheels, to 809.5 kilometers on smaller 19” alloy wheels.

In addition to the top version, however, the electric car will also be available in the basic Air, Touring and Grand Touring versions. The latter also relies on a combination of two electric motors, but their combined power is “only” 800 hp. Even so, it promises acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h in about 3 seconds. More importantly, however, the Air Grand Touring configuration offers a record range of 832 kilometers on a single charge, to which special 19 ”light alloy wheels with aerodynamic shaping and AeroRange marking also contribute.
Unfortunately, we have limited information for the basic version of Air and Touring. Respectively, the basic Air model is almost completely missing, the Air Touring should offer a combined power of about 620 hp, acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h in 3.2 seconds and a range of about 653 km on 19 “alloy wheels. But we will probably get more information in time. Their arrival is planned later.

Regardless of the version, however, you will be pleased to know that the high capacity of the battery will not be redeemed by long waits on the chargers. The battery works with a 924 V system, thanks to which the Air can charge up to 300 kW. At such a speed, it can reach a range of about 32 km in a minute, but there are not many similarly powerful chargers.
For home charging, the Lucid Air is equipped with an on-board charger that can charge up to 19.2 kW from AC power. The company is then preparing its own charging station, which will be able to generate such power. In addition, it will allow two-way charging, so that in the event of a power failure, the car can serve as a backup source for the home.

The car’s interior places great emphasis on spaciousness and modern technology, making it look elegantly futuristic as a result. Of interest is the curved instrument panel with a diagonal of 34 inches, which floats above the dashboard and promises a resolution of up to 5K. However, the key functions of the car are controlled from a smaller touch panel, called the Pilot Panel, which is located in front of the center console. However, this display is not fixed here – it can be hidden in the dashboard and an impressive storage compartment is created under it.
It is also worth mentioning the windshield, which, like the Tesla Model X, extends deep into the roof – practically above the heads of the front passengers. The rear passengers then have their own glazed segment. At the same time, there are seats for three people at the back, but in the future it is planned to install a pair of premium individual chairs, with which Lucid Air will try to attract a premium clientele.

Among the technological equipment, we must also mention the support of the voice-controlled Amazon Alexa system and the support of wireless updates. Of course, there is also a sophisticated semi-autonomous system offering functions at the second and third levels. The system is called DreamDrive and works with 32 different sensors, Lidar and high-quality maps with geo-fencing. It will probably only be possible to activate the function in selected locations.
But as you probably already know, it will not be cheap. After deducting the benefits, Basic Lucid Air should start at $ 72,500, or about 1,627,000 crowns, and its availability is not expected until 2022. The Touring model will be released at $ 87,500 (approximately CZK 1,831,000), but should arrive before the end of 2021.

If you want the maximum range, you will have to prepare at least $ 131,500 (approximately CZK 2,954,000) for the Grand Touring version, which will arrive around the middle of next year. The flagship Dream Edition will be the first to appear on the market in the spring of 2021, but it will pull at least $ 161,500 (approximately CZK 3,626,000) out of the pockets of future owners.
