Major fire in Utzenstorfer industrial area: production hall destroyed

On Sunday evening, a production hall was completely destroyed in a fire in the Utzenstorf industrial area. Two neighboring factory and warehouse buildings as well as a fire department store were also damaged. Nobody got hurt.

The operations center of the canton police in Bern received several reports on Sunday evening after 8:20 p.m. about a large and widely visible smoke development in the industrial area in Utzenstorf. When the immediately deployed emergency services arrived on site on Fabrikstrasse, a production hall was already in full fire, according to a press release from the Bern cantonal police.

Although the approximately 100 members of the Untere Emme fire brigade and the professional fire brigade from Protection and Rescue Bern immediately started the extinguishing work, according to the announcement, it could not be prevented that the production hall, in which four companies were located, was completely destroyed.
