The range of webshop V&D is going to change. In order to better compete with other webshops, hobby items, beauty products and electronics, among other things, will disappear from the range. V&D is now going back to “product groups that have traditionally been the strength of the department store,” says a spokesperson.
V&D will focus on clothing, shoes and interior. According to the webshop, customers continue to have a need for this, even in times of high inflation. Like competitors Wehkamp, bol.com and Zalando, V&D had a wider range of products in recent years, but that did not work well.
“It’s all a bit more uncertain. People are more careful and don’t all buy things they don’t really need,” says the spokesperson.
Department store chain V&D went bankrupt in 2015. The physical stores did not return, but in 2018 V&D opened its doors online again.
According to V&D director Alexander van Slooten, the webshop initially went very well, but that changed in the past year. Since the corona measures were abolished, online turnover fell sharply, says van Slooten.
