China’s economy is in free fall due to radical lockdowns and the excessive “zero Covid” policy of its head of state and party leader Xi Jinping. Many German and European companies at numerous locations in China find themselves in a difficult, exceptional situation – with massive economic consequences for the company and a great burden for the local employees.
Some companies are pinning their hopes on “special permits”. Here, the Asia Waypoint team answers a series of frequently asked questions about these permits, including how to get them and how useful they are – using Shanghai as an example.
