The producers of the valleys of Santa Cruz achieved higher yields from their crops, especially potatoes, thanks to the support received from the Tropical Agricultural Research Center (CIAT) and the Regional Research Center of the municipality of Mairana.
The director of CIAT, Edgar Talavera, pointed out that agreements have been made with some agricultural companies where they have proposed fertilization treatments, with monitoring of the crop despite having been planted in a frosty season, the preliminary data is positive, since it is estimated a harvest above 20 tons per hectare.
Likewise, the deputy governor of the Florida province, Eduardo Hurtado, indicated that good results are being seen, despite being an unusual time. “It’s good to do this type of testing to be able to replicate our growers,” he added.
For her part, Mrs. Albina, one of the producers who was present at the harvest with the authorities, indicated that she will ask the Research Center to support her production. (Santa Cruz, with data from the Government)
