Thakarachenda was a film directed by Avira Rebecca starring Srinivasan and Geethu Mohandas. Producer Savi Mano Mathew in an interview given to Master Bin channel talks about the film not being successful as expected and the mistakes made by director Avira Rebecca.
He says that the reason for the failure was Avira’s previous relationship with Rebecca, but due to some decisions of the director, the film lost its perfection.
‘The reason why I did Katarachenda is that I and its director, Avira Rebecca, went to study together from the same country. Pulli has a good idea. But the big problem is that it does not come when it is done.
I wanted to make a picture of him. So he told me a subject. When I thought it was a good subject, I called Sreeniyatan and told him to listen to it.
So Avira went to Rebecca Sriniyatan and told the story. Sreeniyatan called me right then and said, Sevi, we have to do this, it is a serious incident. At first I thought he was joking with me.
Pulli called the next day. So decided to do this, no big budget. When I told the story to Geethu, they also became very interested. This film was not made for money. It is a film made knowing that the money spent on making a good film will go away.
Naushad had no interest in doing such a film, it was because of my interest that he came into it. 25 days were enough for the shooting. After four or five days of shooting, Avira’s friends came to the set. She opined that the film should have four or five songs like Blessy’s Kasha film. They changed Avira’s mind by saying this.
So he recorded 45 songs for the film without asking any of us. It was filmed. So four and five days passed. The film was not made in the 25-day schedule.
Only a few days were left to complete the shooting. You have done it as if he had beaten the film to finish the remaining scenes. That’s what made this movie perfect. Or it was a fierce film. So there are only broken memories of the wreckage,’ said Sevi Mano Mathew.
