Producer of Formula 1 games falls into the hands of Electronic Art

The shareholders of Codemasters, the games producer that publishes the official Formula 1 game every year, have agreed to a takeover by games giant Electronic Art (EA). The acquisition would cost $ 1.2 billion.

Due to the agreement of the shareholders, nothing stands in the way of a takeover and Codemasters falls into the hands of EA. Formally, the process can still take months, but without unexpected turns, it is a fact that Codemasters will soon be part of EA.

At first, Take-Two seemed to be running off with Codemasters, until EA suddenly came up with a higher offer. EA was determined to incorporate Codemasters, the market leader in the racing game genre with, in addition to Formula 1, DiRT and Grid.

It is still unclear what consequences this will have for the Formula 1 games.
