Producer Mohamed Mohsen Jaber confirmed that the Cairo Voice Company did not produce anything for Umm Kulthum, as she was producing for herself, saying: “There is a power of attorney from Umm Kulthum as she is the owner of the Cairo Voice, and in her lifetime she owned all of her works.
Muhammad Mohsen Jaber added, during an interview on the “Ninth” program, with the journalist Youssef Al-Husseini, on Channel One, that they own 100% of Umm Kulthum’s heritage, explaining that Egyptian law allows the registration of the work to one company, stressing that their company is the only registered company for all of Umm Kulthum’s works. They have certificates from the Ministry of Culture.
He continued: We have intellectual property certificates from the Ministry of Culture stating that the work belongs to our company, and Voice of Cairo filed a complaint in accordance with the law, and the Ministry of Culture responded that the certificates were invalid by force of law and may not be appealed except by a judicial ruling, demanding that Voice of Cairo produce the papers indicating ownership of Voice of Cairo.
