O Procon São Paulo sent notifications to Motorola, Samsung and Apple companies asking for explanations about the security devices for blocking and unblocking access to the manufacturers’ cell phones.

The background to the request is the cases of gangs that have stolen devices to access bank applications and make improper transfers, explained Procon in a press release.

Companies must submit technical reports, signed by qualified professionals, with information on the efficiency of the locking and unlocking systems, in addition to mechanisms for accessing data stored in the devices, such as passwords, security codes, voice and face recognition, among others.

Manufacturers must also inform Procon of the measures taken to identify possible issues of breach of security and data breach in the devices, among other points. Motorola, Samsung and Apple have until the 22nd to answer Procon’s questions.
