The Virgen del Carmen will stay that night in the Arsenal Weapons Room and it will be located on Sunday morning next to the Cross of the Fallen, presiding over the acts of the Navy. The Port Authority organizes, with the collaboration of the Board, the maritime procession that will take place this afternoon. At 7:00 p.m. the parade will go through the Puerta de la Cortina and will go along the quay to the boarding place, where there will be space for the public can view the maritime procession from land or embark. Upon his return, the retreat will be in the Socorro church.

The procession of the Virgen del Carmen is a tradition that the Junta de Cofradías in Ferrol wants to consolidate, after more than 70 years since it was last held. For this, the brotherhoods commissioned the image maker negri acevedo, author also of other carvings of Ferrol’s Holy Week, the realization of a candlestick image that represents the Virgen del Carmen with her Child in her arms. The premiere was scheduled to take place earlier, in the summer of 2020, but the pandemic disrupted the initial plans and it was delayed until 2022.
