Dresden (dpa) – In the trial against six young men from Berlin for stealing jewels from the Dresden Green Vault, the district court is taking a one-month summer break. The originally planned last July date for the November 2019 robbery next Tuesday was cancelled, as a court spokesman said on Monday when asked. The youth chamber is still negotiating this week, but then there will be a month’s break in court due to vacation.
From August 23rd it will continue twice a week. Just last week, the youth chamber had scheduled appointments up to and including December 20 for the process that had been running since the end of January.
The suspects, aged 23 to 28, are charged with aggravated gang theft, arson and particularly serious arson. You come from a well-known Arab family in Berlin. In the early morning of November 25, 2019, they are said to have stolen 21 pieces of jewelery with a total of 4,300 diamonds and brilliants with a total value of over 113 million euros from the treasury and left property damage of more than one million euros.
They are also accused of having set fire to a power box in the old town and a getaway car in the underground car park of a residential building.
