Police had wanted to check the man in Munich at four in the morning – he slept in his car with the engine running. What followed were scenes as you know them from TV crime novels. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the construction worker raced across the city center – partly on the opposite lane – ignoring red lights and evading police barriers with daring maneuvers.
Frenzy from Munich to Nuremberg and back
At the driveway to A 9 he is said to have thrown a bucket and a mortar mixer out of the window to shake off his pursuers. He drove on the autobahn to Lauf an der Pegnitz, and from there back towards Munich. The police slowed down the following traffic and partially blocked access roads. When refueling at the service station Feucht-West, she was able to overwhelm the man. The public prosecutor assumes that he is guilty of mental illness.
