Procedure to expand Malko Tarnovo border crossing begins – 2024-05-09 09:22:33

The procedure for the preparation of a project for the expansion of the border checkpoint “Malko Tarnovo” has begun.

This was agreed upon by the institutions responsible for the purpose at a meeting with Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

It was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova-Kasabova, the Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov, the Deputy Minister of Finance Stefan Belchev, the Director of the Customs Agency Georgi Dimov, the Chairman of the Board of API engineer Yordan Valchev, as well as the mayor of Malko Tarnovo municipality Iliyan Yanchev.

The mayor thanked Prime Minister Glavchev for the quick response of the state and the readiness of all relevant institutions to assist in the expansion of the checkpoint in order to ease traffic.

Iliyan Yanchev informed the Prime Minister of the need to modernize the point, which is an important transport corridor between Bulgaria and Turkey.

At the same time, the international road E-87 also connects the “Durankulak” checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Romanian border with the “Malko Tarnovo” checkpoint along the Black Sea coast.

In a few days, the “Customs” agency will prepare a technical specification of the project for the expansion of the “Malko Tarnovo” point, and the procedure will be initiated as a matter of priority by the relevant institutions.
