Problems in space! The module suddenly started the engines and turned the entire ISS

The 23-ton module Nauka, whose journey through space was accompanied by a number of complications, successfully joined the ISS on Thursday. Roskomos had to deal remotely with problems with rocket positioning and a malfunctioning propulsion system.

However, the long-awaited connection of the module obviously did not end the problems. After connecting and checking the seals, the control center noticed that the module motors had started unplanned. This significantly changed the path of the station, the whole also turned around.

Ground teams managed to shut down the engines, then the engineers returned the ISS to its planned trajectory. “The crew has never been and is not in any danger, the flight controllers of the Houston control center are monitoring the status of the space station,” NASA said after the incident.

Due to inspections of the Nauka module, NASA and Boeing have decided to cancel Friday’s launch as part of the Orbital Flight Test – 2 mission. A new date has not yet been announced.
