Problems at NMBS are becoming distressing: “Abolishing trains due to a lack of staff, that is unprecedented”

The train from Mol to Antwerp was canceled on Wednesday due to staff shortages. Last weekend, for the same reason, no train even ran for a whole day between Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. The shortage of personnel at the NMBS is causing “unprecedented situations”, both TreinTramBus and the railway unions say, threatening a strike. “The NMBS is chronically understaffed. This is going to happen more often.”
