Discussions between the City of Anglet and the World Surf League led to an agreement for the organization of a Pro Anglet of a raised level.
The competition will not take place as usual in August, but in June. The Anglet meeting will come punctuate the European QS circuit, which includes six events for men and three for women.
Qualifying circuit, the QS will this season allow access to the Challengers series, anteroom of the Championship tour, which brings together the elite of surfing for both girls and boys.
A male and female QS 3000
The European qualifying circuit will open with the 5,000 men QS from Taghazout (Morocco), from March 2 to 7. There will then be a 3,000-man QS in Netanya, Israel, from March 10 to 20, then two other 3,000 QS in Portugal, in Caparica (men and women) from March 22 to 27 and in Santa Cruz (men) from March 29. March to April 3.
After one two month break, the circuit will resume from June 4 to 20, with a QS 3,000 men and women in Pantín, Galicia (Spain). The Anglet meeting, which will take the form of a QS 3000 for men and women, will be the last of this European calendar.
It should therefore take a capital importance in the race for qualification (the 10 best men and 8 best women of this European round) for the Challengers series.
Night Surf from August 26 to 28
Night surfing, a feature of the boarding calendar in Anglet, is therefore now dissociated from Pro Anglet. It will take place over two days, from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 August 2021.
