Switzerland’s National Cyber Security Center on Tuesday announced an extremely high intensity of cyber attacks on government websites and online portals in the country, behind which is the pro-Russian group NoName.
This is reported “European Truth” with reference to Reuters.
Key government websites in Switzerland, in particular the websites of the parliament and the federal government, have been hit by a DDoS attack in recent daysduring which the servers are overloaded with an artificially created wave of requests from different places.
The pro-Russian group NoName said it carried out a cyberattack on the website of the Swiss Parliament in response to its joining the latest package of European Union sanctions against Russia.
On Tuesday, hackers attacked other websites, notably the Geneva Airport site, which is a hub for diplomats and officials on their way to the UN headquarters in the city.
The attack coincides with the Swiss Parliament’s preparations for video message from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, scheduled for Thursday.
“Parliamentary services are doing everything in their power to ensure that Thursday’s live stream goes smoothly,” the Swiss National Cybersecurity Center said in a statement.
The Swiss government warned last week that it feared during the attack on Xplaina technology firm that provides software to several departments, could have had their data stolen to extort a ransom.
