Eurocontrol is exposed to a computer attack by pro-Russian hackers, but aviation is not affected, the European air traffic control service informs the WSJ.
Eurocontrol, which coordinates air traffic in Europe, told the American newspaper on Thursday Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that the attack began on Wednesday.
– The attack causes disruptions to the website and online availability. There have been no consequences for European aviation, says a spokesperson for the organisation.
Internal and external communication is affected by the ongoing attack, which means that the around 2,000 employees have to use commercial tools to communicate, an unnamed source in Eurocontrol told the newspaper.
– There have been fierce cyber battles, and even though operations are completely safe, it has been difficult to do other things, says the source.
