Pro League: The new season scheduled to start in February

Fosa Juniors puts their title back on the line.

Next season of the “Orange Pro League”, the Madagascar first division championship, could welcome two new clubs. The Association of Malagasy Elite Football Clubs (CFEM), organizer of the tournament, announced the addition of KFCA Diana and Inate FC Vakinankaratra among the 16 current teams in the Pro League. However, the two contenders are currently awaiting approval of their club license from the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) to validate their participation. These two teams emerge from the national division 2, distinguishing themselves after fierce clashes over three days to obtain their ticket for the elite championship of Madagascar. The Fosa Juniors club will put their title on the line.

The resumption of the season is planned for February 2024, with a reorganization of the conferences. The season should end before July in order to respect the Confederation of African Football (CAF) calendar. Indeed, CAF has set the start of the preliminary rounds of interclub competitions, including the Champions League and the CAF Cup, for August 2024.

Information session

Furthermore, on December 21, the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) organized an information session at the Barea Mahamasina stadium for the granting of licenses to clubs participating this season. Fourteen clubs among the eighteen competing attended this session. Teams wishing to participate in CAF interclub competitions must comply with the CLOP (Club Licensing Online Platform). Since July 2022, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set up an online license application platform, the CLOP, aimed at simplifying and harmonizing the process of granting licenses to clubs qualified for the Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, according to sporting, administrative, financial, legal and infrastructural criteria.
