The Pro D2 regular season is now over. This Friday evening, the 16 teams involved in the antechamber of the Top 14 disputed the 30th day of the championship.
A day at the end of which Grenoble somehow ensured its qualification for the semi-finals of the championship after a victory (27-24) against Vannes. The Isère club however finished far from the untouchable leader, Oyonnax, qualified for the last four for several weeks already.
At the same time, Mont-de-Marsan took third place in the championship thanks to a big success against Rouen (47-17). The Yellow and Black will face Agen, beaten in Béziers (41-14) but sixth, for the first of two play-off matches, Friday May 12.
A try in the last minutes saves Soyaux-Angoulême
The other match in these play-offs will pit Nevers, who crushed Montauban (48-13) against Vannes, on Thursday May 11.
The semi-finals will then be held on May 20 (at 3 p.m. and then at 9 p.m.), and will pit Oyonnax against the winner of the match Nevers – Vannes, then Grenoble against the winner of the match Mont-de-Marsan – Agen.
The winner of the final, organized on May 27 in Toulouse, will be promoted to the Top 14. The loser will play a last accession match against the 13e the Top 14.
At the bottom of the table, Soyaux-Angoulême escaped on the edge thanks to a bonus point won a few seconds before the end of the meeting on the lawn of Oyonnax (33-31).
An essay by Nicolas Martin at the 77e came to ruin the hopes of Carcassonne which, despite its improved victory against Provence Rugby (34-14), will accompany the red lantern Massy in National.
