Left-handed trained in the ranks of the columérin club, which moves on the lawn of Soyaux-Angoulême this Friday January 27 (7:30 p.m., Rugby +) the 23-year-old player is experiencing a good rise.
He had his first full season only two years ago and Hugo Djehi has already established himself as a major element of the Columérin workforce, since he has accumulated eleven games this season despite an injury in mid-November. It is enough to see his last two appearances, in Carcassonne and against Biarritz, to measure all the impact he has in the fate of a meeting.
“As an ‘impact player’, he is excellent. He is a modern pillar with support, ”describes his trainer Julien Sarraute. “He has a real ability to ”break”. And this ability to break the line is precious in this team from Colomiers, which is often dominant but which has sometimes lacked crossings to reach a milestone. “He’s a player who beats a lot of defenders. He can eliminate a three-quarters in one against one, assures Julien Sarraute. We don’t see him in a match yet, but I saw him do framing-overflows on three-quarters in training… ”
A rare velocity
Well back from his knee injury, Hugo Djehi, 23, will this time take on the role of holder at Soyaux-Angoulême. And his astonishing qualities in view of a weight of 114 kg will be precious: “He still needs work on his maturity in the position, but he has a very interesting explosive potential. Its velocity is rare in a pillar. “Faced with a very playful opponent from Charente, who enjoys playing at high pace, Hugo Djehi’s profile corresponds perfectly. Maybe this will be the opportunity for him to register his first try. This is indeed what the young player trained at the club lacks (he has been playing there since 2010), whose father, Toussaint, played in the 1995 World Cup with Côte d’Ivoire. “He has to be able to play at maximum intensity over time. This is the path that remains for him to travel but he will get there, ”concludes Julien Sarraute.
