Pro Anglet: a three-year partnership with Rip Curl Europe

By Jean-Pierre Tamisier

World Surf League, Ville d’Anglet and Rip Curl Europe have formalized a partnership until 2024 for the organization of the English stage of the European Qualifying Series 1000, whose 2021 edition continues until Sunday

The Rip Curl Pro Anglet QS 1000 of surfing, male and female, started on Monday 23 August at the Chambre d’Amour and continues until Sunday 29 August, hoping that the waves finally deign to show themselves. It is in this context that Claude Olive, Mayor of Anglet, Mathieu Lefin, President of Rip Curl Europe, and Cheyne Bradburn, Marketing and Events Director of WSL Europe, formalized a partnership until 2024 for the organization of this competition. Rip Curl Europe is already present for the 2021 edition of Pro Anglet and has chosen to get involved for three more years.

Claude Olive recalled on this occasion that he had wanted with his team, when he arrived at the town hall in 2014, “to reconnect with professional surfing. »What had been done in 2015. On the occasion of the 6th edition of this Pro Anglet, the partnership concluded with the European representation of the Australian major of equipment and clothing related to surfing in all its forms, constitutes a new stage, intended to give even more relief to the Angloy meeting.

Olympic perspectives

An ambition that resonates with the strategy of Rip Curl Europe. “Already strongly involved at world level with the Australian stages this year, as well as the Rip Curl WSL Finals for the next three years, we also wanted to participate in the national and European development of professional surfing. Our approach aims to provide opportunities for French and European surfers to progress and to be supported in their quest to reach the highest level in the world, ”emphasizes Mathieu Lefin.

2024 is a date that rings pleasantly in the ear of Pauline Ado, present, like the two surfers who wear the colors of Rip Curl, the Portuguese Teresa Bonvalot and the Landais Kyllian Guerin, during the formalization of this partnership, on the terrace of the Espace de l’Océan. It is the year of the Olympic Games in Paris. A perspective that the English surfing champion, just back from Tokyo, has placed in the center of her sights.
