Prlat Walter Hohmann died

At the age of 83, Pastor i. R. Prlat Walter Hohmann, long-time rector of the retreat house Himmelspforten, has died. The press service of the Episcopal Ordinariate in Wrzburg will inform you about this.

Hohmann was born in Wrzburg in 1937 and grew up in Hammelburg. He was ordained priest on July 20, 1963 by Bishop Josef Stangl in Hammelburg. Then Hohmann was chaplain in Zeil am Main, Schweinfurt-Sankt Kilian and Aschaffenburg-Sankt Peter and Alexander. In 1967 he was appointed bishop secretary and in 1970 also cathedral vicar. From 1968 to 2009 he was also secretary of the Bonifatiuswerk of German Catholics in the Diocese of Wrzburg. From 1970 to 1996 he also worked as a Dizesanprses for the Wrzburger Schnstatt family. From 1974 to 2004 Hohmann was rector of the retreat house at Himmelspforten. From 1974 to 1988 he was also Dizesan women’s chaplain, also from 1974 to 2010 clerical advisory board of the Dizesan Association of the Catholic German Women’s Association (KDFB).

Pope John Paul II awarded him the Prlateness in 1997. Hohmann had been retired since 2010, which he spent in Wrzburg. From 2011 to 2018 he had a pastoral care assignment for the Dizese Wrzburg.

The Requiem for the deceased will be celebrated on Thursday, March 18, at 2:30 p.m. in the parish church of St. Johannes der Tufer in Hammelburg. The burial follows in compliance with the Corona hygiene measures.
