Prizes awarded for children’s art contest in Oaxaca

Oaxaca, Oax. The San Agustín Arts Center (CaSa) and the Francisco Toledo civil association held the award ceremony for the second children’s call “Hairy Inventifers”, which had as its objective an exercise in creativity for girls and boys, who had the mission of creating a friend and his story.

Daniel Brena, director of CaSa, explained that the call for applications was launched in May and had an excellent response from the minors, who created different “friends”, which they captured on sheets and to whom they invented a story.

He explained that the jury in which the artist, Trine Ellitsgaard, participated analyzed the proposals, which took into account the design of the proposal, the history and viability, since the winners would be created in the plush workshop of the Center for Arts, which was founded by Francisco Toledo and has been operating for 12 years

The Furry Inventifers were created by teacher Marcela Ortega who heads this workshop, in which more than 50 artists from all over the world have worked in the creation of different works, but which is now open to children and their dreams, he said. .

He added that the freshness of the children who show a creativity that is difficult for adults to achieve, gave life to these three works, which were awarded as a prize to the 3 minors.

Brena highlighted the participation of the Francisco Toledo association, which through its president, Sara López Ellitsgaard, has supported the various initiatives that have arisen in the CaSa, such as this call.

Meanwhile, Sara López congratulated Aitana Danaé Morán in the 4 to 5 year old category, Yatzil Díaz in the 6 to 8 year old category, and Santiago Ramírez who was the winner of the 9 to 11 year old category, after which she highlighted that This call is of utmost importance because it brings art to girls and boys, not just to students.

The “Hairy Inventors” created are:

Piú by Aitana Danaé Morán in the 4 to 5 years category “Piú is an owl that eats alebrijes and lives in a colorful nest. Piú couldn’t fly, that’s why his brothers made fun of him and he realized that he was actually an owl alebrije. “So he went to a wood carver where they made him some glasses with wings that he painted and he was finally able to fly and lived very happily.”

Yatzil Díaz in the 6 to 8 years category created Argarras, which “is an animal that has parts of different animals. It eats leaves, has a long tail of a chameleon, the body of a cat, the head of a dog, the tongue of a giraffe, its legs are one of a puma, another of a tiger, another of an elephant and another of a human. “He likes sunlight.”

Finally Santiago Ramírez won in the 9 to 11 year old category and created Toriélago, “it has the wings of a bat and the body of a bull. “He can be upright and very friendly but he can be aggressive at times.”
