New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the violent incidents in Manipur. Their criticism comes in the wake of the killing of four villagers in the firing by militants in Taubal district on Monday. They also alleged that the Prime Minister has not yet visited the state.
“Four people died in Manipur. Many people were injured. Many districts have curfew. The people of Manipur have been facing murder, violence and destruction for eight months. When will this end? A joint delegation of all party leaders from Manipur reached Delhi and sought time to meet the Prime Minister, but he has not yet given time.
He too has not been to Manipur yet. Didn’t talk about Manipur. Parliament has not responded. No action taken. Is this leadership what Manipur needs? Is the power of advertising enough to be great? The government should immediately initiate steps to bring stability and peace in the state,” she said on the X (Twitter) platform.

Four people were killed and 14 injured in a firing by militants in Manipur’s Imphal Valley on New Year’s Day. In Lilong, the Meitei Muslim (Pangal) area of Thoubal, gunmen of militant Meitei outfits in police uniform opened fire on the crowd with machine guns. The angry mob set two vehicles of the attackers on fire. An indefinite curfew was then imposed in the Imphal Valley.
