Prix Styria Awards 2024 with jury member Katharina Bergmann-Pfleger – LBI for Research on the Consequences of War

Our employee Katharina Bergmann-Pfleger says goodbye to her voluntary work as a member of the Prix Styria jury, in which she has been involved since 2021, and thanks the Styrian State Library.

On July 4, 2024, the Styrian State Library awarded the Prix Styria for the eighth time, an award for the best pre-scientific papers (AHS) and diploma theses (BHS) with a connection to Styria.

With the Prix Styria, the Styrian State Library has been sending an important signal for eight years as part of its diverse work with children and young people, while at the same time encouraging independent (pre-)scientific work without the use of AI. In addition to Helwig Brunner, Managing Director of the ecological planning office Ökoteam in Graz, Wolfgang Moser, Director of the Urania Graz, and Franz Prettenthaler, Head of the Institute for Climate, Energy and Society at Joanneum Research, Katharina Bergmann-Pflegerresearch associate at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Research on War Consequences, has been reviewing numerous theses as part of the voluntary jury since 2021. From 2025, a newly constituted jury will devote itself to this exciting activity.

The topics of this year’s award-winning works ranged from synthetic fuels to the treatment of burns with fish skin to the aerodynamics of front and rear wings in motorsport. From a total of 41 submissions from 22 Styrian schools, three preliminary scientific works and three diploma theses were awarded prizes.
