Přívratský took fourth place in the three-position shooting iRADIO

Jiří Přívratský took fourth place at the Olympic Games in three-position shooting from a small rifle. The 23-year-old representative was separated by 0.7 points from the third Indian Swapnil Kusale in the final in Chateauroux, so the Czech team is still waiting for the first valuable metal in France. The Chinese Liu Yu-khun won the gold, the second Ukrainian Serhiy Kuliš lost 2.3 points to him.

Přívratský, a native of Ostrava, could become the first Czech medalist in the small-bore since Adély Sýkorová’s bronze in London 2012. Among the men, only Otokar Hořínek, who won silver in Melbourne in 1956, won a valuable metal in three-position shooting.

Přívratský, the previous year’s European champion in the team competition and individual bronze medalist, still recorded the best result in his career under five rings. Three years ago in Tokyo, he finished 16th in qualifying. In Paris, he was 23rd in air rifle shooting, and in the team mix, he and Veronika Blažíčková took 24th place.

Přívratský started the eight-member final promisingly. In the kneeling position, he scored 153.5 points for fifth place. He improved even more lying down and was fourth with a balance of 311.0 points. But he did not do too well in the opening part of the standing shooting, in which he collected 48.7 points. He added 49.8 in the second series and fell to fifth place with a total of 409.5 points before the final elimination stage for the top six.

Then Přívratský shot only dozens. Thanks to a hit worth 10.4, he first defended himself from the sixth Frenchman Lucas Kryzs, and after hitting 10.5 he moved ahead of Nor Jon-Hermann Hegg. However, at that moment he was losing 1.1 points to the third Indian Kusale, so his opponent only had to hit 9.9 in the next round, while Přívratský’s 10.3 was no longer enough to move to the medal position.
