The journalist of the Athens 9.84 radio station was attacked by MAT forces. Spyros Halikiasin the incidents that took place in Syntagma Square during the all-education rally, yesterday, Friday (8/3).
As the station’s website reported, Mr. Halikias, who was journalistically covering the nationwide mobilization, was injured during the violent intervention of the MAT, against a group of students, with globes and chemicals.
He was transferred to the General Hospital “G. Gennimatas” and will undergo axial chest, pelvis – hips, shoulder, arm, knee and elsewhere. The good thing, as pointed out, is that he has no head injuries, as he was wearing the protective mask.

“The Board of Directors of ESIEA denounces the violence used by police forces against my colleague Spyros Halikias of the R/S “Athens 9.84”, who was yesterday covering the Pan-Education Rally. The colleague is being treated at the “Georgios Gennimatas” hospital.
We emphasize that the continuation of the phenomenon of violence against journalists who attend the demonstrations in order to exercise their profession and inform the public opinion, is a phenomenon that is absolutely condemnable, with the risk of dragging our country internationally”.
